About Fergus Ferry

Fergus Ferry - Favicon
Fergus Ferry isn’t the biggest boat on the Harbour – but he is the bravest.

The Fergus Ferry stories, feature Fergus and his friends as they have normal, routine days on the Harbour – with crashes, accidents and thrilling rescues – with ferries getting lost, hitting reefs and being beached. With daring rescues and touch and go drama!

But, really, the stories are about families. About the bump and grind of family life, how we relate to each other, how we rely on each other and how we deal with the tensions and the demands of our relationships. They are about inclusion, respect and being kind, because:

“IN THE END, WHEN ALL’S SAID AND DONE,
THERE’S ROOM ON THE HARBOUR FOR EVERYONE.”

The author, John Williamson-Noble, made up the stories for his son, Tom, as he was on his way to the City on a Sydney Harbour ferry. As he told the stories he couldn’t resist the temptation to include subtle parent/child messages.

The illustrator, Peter Townsend, illustrated many children’s books, including Bananas in Pyjamas and Bandaged Bear.
